Elopements and Small Gatherings

Over the years, elopements and small gatherings have gained popularity for many reasons. Some couples like the ease and quick timeframe of planning a more intimate ceremony. Getting married sooner rather than later is important to other couples. Some couples opt to elope or have a small gathering to get the legalities completed and then have another ceremony with a big party at a later date! However you envision your wedding day will be perfect for you, and I am here to help you “tie the knot” in the way that speaks to your heart and allows you to begin your married life together.

Marriage License info: Pennsylvania does not require witnesses, so it can be a true elopement with just the two of you. Your marriage license can be obtained in any county in PA. It will be valid for 60 days after a 3-day waiting period. For questions about the marriage license process, contact the county courthouse where you will be applying for your marriage license. Many counties have info on their website.

Fees and Timeframes: Short notice is available, including the same day, depending on the time and location. The stated fees are for ceremonies that are held during non-prime wedding times and in the Lancaster area. A travel fee applies if held outside of Lancaster. If you want to get married with just the legally required sections, which are the Consent and Pronouncement, then this is for you. After the Consent question, you both say, “I do” and I say, “I now pronounce that you are married!” and I sign your marriage license. It can be that simple! *This ceremony is only available in my very local area of either the parking area of the Landis Valley Museum or the Manheim Twp Community Park, both are in the Lancaster area.
